We thought we had found some great rubs until we were introduced to Rubbin' Right at Canton 1st Monday. OMG! We started with the Honey Bourbon on steaks and ribs. Our friends went nuts and wanted our supplies. NOPE. We came back to Canton and bought more Honey Bourbon and the All Purpose Rub. Yeah we made our friends pay us back and gave them some Business cards to go on line and get more. Having a 4th of July gathering with hamburgers seasoned with each Rub and having a blind taste test just to see if there is a favorite. Great stuff!

The Right Rub For My Tender Steak. The tender steak with mushroom was delicious thanks to RUBBIN’ RIGHT Honey Bourbon Rub. The rub had meat tenderizer which made my steak juicy and almost melt in my mouth. The rub didn’t take away the flavor of the steak but have enhanced it.

Easy and Quick Breakfast. I used their All-Purpose BBQ Rub to season the mushrooms. You don’t have to add salt, everything is mixed for you in a balanced manner. All I had to do was add some olive oil and let the steak sit for few minutes. Got my grill sizzling hot and cooked the steak for one and half minute on each side since the cut was thin.

I received a gift of this BBQ rub for my birthday of this year. I have used it on my weekly Steak BBQ's and I can attest to the great flavor it lends to the choice rib eye's I like to "fire up". I first put a coating of extra virgin olive oil on my steak then fork rubbin the fixins on both sides of the steak. Taste great...in fact, I'm about to have another one tonight.

Adam, your rubbed fish looks delish! I’m an Old Bay junkie (but not Tony’s — his blend sounds great — but there are too many allergens left to chance.) Thanks for taking your “19 readers” into consideration — I’m certain the number is MUCH higher due to your excellent cooking, writing, and photos! Unfortunately I’m amongst the “chosen few” (aka seemingly cursed) affected by food allergies. I despise that. (!!!) But, I suffer from distinct, lingering physiological reactions every time I fall off the chuck wagon and/or “ready made” mixtures. (Or take out… DRAT!) However, this sounds like a good thing and I’ll be on the lookout for it (in the store or online) and encouraging TMOFW to catch some fresh fish soon.

Rubbin' Right seemed honest, friendly and neighborly enough over the phone and email that I thought that is where it would end. I would be sent a product or two that simply didn't, or couldn't, stand out amongst the others.

I have been proven wrong more times than I can say, and I am only have way done using their rubs!

Opening each one of them up, I swear I was taking one long leap to Texas! The aroma of each one of these rubs was distinct in its own aroma and I was able to tell which was which simply through the scent of each. That was the first crucial step...just another instance of proving me wrong.

I wanted to grab these 8 ounce containers and start sprinkling them over every protein and vegetable I had laying around the house. But I wanted to treat these rubs with a little dignity and Yankee ingenuity. Anyone and everyone can dust a rib and cook it. I chose to see if they would stand up to a Yankee touch, and again, I was pleasantly surprised and proven wrong again.

I only regret that I am only halfway done with my rubs, but I also need to share my delightful experience with this companies rubs as soon as possible.

I want to add that this is by no means the last you will hear about Rubbin' Right from me. When I am completely finished with all these seasonings, I will add another post, one that is more in depth, but in the meantime I would LOVE to give a big shout out to my new neighbors, my Texas friends Chuck Wagon Sally, Big Jim and of course Sharon. They have sent me some unique, tasty and uniquely-spiced rubs that have converted me completely. And for that, I thank you. These 8 ounce containers will last me, as it will you, throughout the summer months NOT because of the number of containers I have, but because these spice blends are potent enough that a little goes a long ways. See my recipes below and take a looooooong look at their website and do as I did, order them post haste.(The leaves are starting to fall off the trees here in Maine as we speak!)

My sincerest apologies for the delayed review. I have been hustling to keep pace with both my daily business and my new catering business.

I have tried your rubs on several items and rather enjoyed the Sweet heat and color profiles that the All purpose Barbecue Rub imparted on daily food items, such as eggs (fried/scrambled), in cream cheese,
sour cream dips, and as an all around table seasoning.

I like the Honey Bourbon Rub on smoked chicken and pork loin/tenderloin, as it imparts a mild sweetness. I think this rub has great potential if it had mildly stronger hints of bourbon and honey and less of a salty profile.

I hope you find this somewhat helpful, as I truly enjoyed using these rubs in my cooking profiles. Thank you again for sending them to me, and I will continue to tell folks about them and your company.

Rubbin’ Right – A Taste of Texas in Every Bottle


Rubbin’ Right was started by Sally who grew up in Houston alongside her Dad cooking up large dinners for their family at their ranch. It is because of her Dad that she developed a love for cooking and mean, spicy food. Sally met her partner, Big Jim who has been barbecuing for over 40 years for fun and competitively. Sally got in the kitchen and began mixing spices and when Big Jim tried her blend he suggested that she add this and that and they soon found themselves with one of the best rubs in Texas. If you are like me when you think of barbecue, you think of Texas so this rub has to be some good stuff.


The Rubbin’ Right product lineup consists of four rubs, All Purpose BBQ Rub, Combination Rub, Honey Bourbon Rub and a Maple Mesquite Rub, plus Chili Fixins and their new Creole Seasoning. Rubbin’ Right believes the rubs should be all about flavors and not fillers such as MSG and a ton of salt. The All Purpose Rub is my go to rub, we love it on Ribs, Pork Shoulders, burgers and it is excellent on a vegetable medley, roasted potatoes and even corn on the cob.


I do not like my foods to be sweet so the All Purpose Rub is perfect for me, we rubbed some spare ribs down with it and cooked them in the oven on 225 for about 4 hours and then finished them off on the grill with another dusting of the rub. My husband and oldest son like the sweeter BBQ so they loved the Honey Bourbon Rub, finished off with a light glaze of their favorite BBQ sauce. The uses for these rubs are endless, steaks, burgers, chicken thighs, fish and more and Rubbin’ Right has a recipe section on their website dedicated to giving you great ideas to make great food.
