  • We thought we had found some great rubs until we were introduced to Rubbin' Right at Canton 1st Monday. OMG! We started with the Honey Bourbon on steaks and ribs. Our friends went nuts and wanted our supplies. NOPE. We came back to Canton and bought more Honey Bourbon and the All Purpose Rub. Yeah we made our friends pay us back and gave them some Business cards to go on line and get more. Having a 4th of July gathering with hamburgers seasoned with each Rub and having a blind taste test just to see if there is a favorite. Great stuff!

  • The Right Rub For My Tender Steak. The tender steak with mushroom was delicious thanks to RUBBIN’ RIGHT Honey Bourbon Rub. The rub had meat tenderizer which made my steak juicy and almost melt in my mouth. The rub didn’t take away the flavor of the steak but have enhanced it.

  • Easy and Quick Breakfast. I used their All-Purpose BBQ Rub to season the mushrooms. You don’t have to add salt, everything is mixed for you in a balanced manner. All I had to do was add some olive oil and let the steak sit for few minutes. Got my grill sizzling hot and cooked the steak for one and half minute on each side since the cut was thin.

I first put a coating of extra virgin olive oil on my steak then fork rubbin the fixins on both sides of the steak. Taste great...in fact, I'm about to have another one tonight.

If it's great, it deserves a mention from me! Now I was fortunate enough to connect on here with the Rubbinright Rubbinright company. I made sure to use just the rubs so no sauce was included (wanted no interference with the product). As it turned out, all three rocked my taste buds with tremendous delight!     As all of you are aware, I adore trying new products and will tell it like it is. If I dislike it, I won't say a thing. If I like it, then I will do everything imaginable to tout and spread the word about it. I have never, nor WILL ever, charge for my opinion, put it on the back burner or disregard one single query when it comes to helping out my New England community.

    This post is a little different. I have been speaking with a Texas-based company with regards to a summer staple...barbecue, and all its glory. Specifically, dry rubs.

    I have never been a fan of dry rubs, no matter how good they sound or taste. Instead, focusing on sauces. Again, this time was a little different.

    I received one of each dry rub from this company and was instantly blown away by the sizes of their containers. In the back of my mind, I was hoping and praying that something would set these people apart because, being a cheap Yankee, the $10 price tag was not a draw.

    This is one of those instances where you absolutely cannot judge a book by its cover......or price tag.

    Rubbin' Right seemed honest, friendly and neighborly enough over the phone and email that I thought that is where it would end. I would be sent a product or two that simply didn't, or couldn't, stand out amongst the others.

    I have been proven wrong more times than I can say, and I am only have way done using their rubs!

    Opening each one of them up, I swear I was taking one long leap to Texas! The aroma of each one of these rubs was distinct in its own aroma and I was able to tell which was which simply through the scent of each. That was the first crucial step...just another instance of proving me wrong.

    I wanted to grab these 8 ounce containers and start sprinkling them over every protein and vegetable I had laying around the house. But I wanted to treat these rubs with a little dignity and Yankee ingenuity. Anyone and everyone can dust a rib and cook it. I chose to see if they would stand up to a Yankee touch, and again, I was pleasantly surprised and proven wrong again. I only regret that I am only halfway done with my rubs, but I also need to share my delightful experience with this companies rubs as soon as possible.

    I want to add that this is by no means the last you will hear about Rubbin' Right from me. When I am completely finished with all these seasonings, I will add another post, one that is more in depth, but in the meantime I would LOVE to give a big shout out to my new neighbors, my Texas friends Chuck Wagon Sally, Big Jim and of course Sharon. They have sent me some unique, tasty and uniquely-spiced rubs that have converted me completely. And for that, I thank you. These 8 ounce containers will last me, as it will you, throughout the summer months NOT because of the number of containers I have, but because these spice blends are potent enough that a little goes a long ways. See my recipes below and take a looooooong look at their website and do as I did, order them post haste.(The leaves are starting to fall off the trees here in Maine as we speak!)

    Store-bought barbecue rubs are a lot like the jars of salsa that sit across the aisle. They’re a dime a dozen. Sure, most of them deliver on their promise, but there are very few varieties out there that are truly special.
    Lucky me, I found one. It’s from a very small company called Rubbin’ Right. Not able to leave well enough alone, I had to get to know the folks who concocted it. They’re really nice people.
    Now, before you go thinking this is a paid advertisement for a mom & pop start-up company, let me just tell you that it’s not. Consider it a review with a little inside information thrown in.
    A balanced spice blend
    Up until a few weeks ago, the only spice blends I used on a regular basis were Old Bay and Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning. I like them both because of the flavor and all-natural ingredients. When it came to barbecue-style rubs, I’ve always tended to make my own. Enter the All-Purpose Barbecue Rub from Rubbin’ Right. Oh, it works just fine as a rub for grilled/smoked chicken, beef and pork (plenty of competitive cooks us it — and win), but it’s so well balanced — if a little sweet — that it also deserves a spot at the dinner table … alongside the salt and pepper.
    Rubbin’ Right is a co-venture of ‘Chuckwagon’ Sally, a spice aficionado, and ‘Big’ Jim, a perennial BBQ cook-off champ. These two seasoning mix-masters operate from a small outlet in Cameron, Texas, not far from Texas A&M University. When I met them, it was as if we were long lost friends. But as friendly as they are, I couldn’t get them to divulge the mixture of spices in the All-Purpose mix — beyond salt, a tad of sugar and garlic. They did reassure me that all ingredients are natural, and I didn’t have to worry about gluten, MSG and other stuff commonly found in big-time mixes.
    That’s good enough for me … and hopefully my 19 loyal readers.
    My verdict
    Most barbecue rubs are intended for beef, chicken or pork. And Rubbin’ Right’s All-Purpose works well for those. (I sprinkled it on a hamburger while it was grilling — superb.) I also found that the slight sweetness is wonderful on fish (see the recipe below) and shrimp. I’ve not tried it on oysters yet, but I’ll bet the sharpness of the bivalve and the smoky sweet of the spice mix are an outstanding combination.
    Rubbin’ Right is not yet available in my local H.E.B., and it’s probably not in the major stores where you are. I’ll be asking my grocery manager to stock it, but in the meantime, the folks at Rubbin’ Right will ship directly from their Texas headquarters.
    Looks like I’ll be checking my mailbox more often.

Truth is, I’ve eaten a pasture’s worth, but just off the coast of the Lone Star State is a massive shoal of deliciousness. And, guess what? Fish on the grill tastes marvelous when seasoned with the stuff meant for its pasture-raised brethren. Try it for yourself. Serve with a lemon wedge, or two … or even a few drops of Louisiana-style hot sauce.
